Create Your First Tour

This guide will walk you through creating your first tour with TourKit.

Recording a Tour

Step 1: Navigate to Your App

Open the website or web application where you want to record a tour.

Step 2: Open TourKit

Click the TourKit extension icon in your browser toolbar to open the recording panel.

Step 3: Start Recording

  1. Click "New Tour" to begin
  2. Give your tour a name (you can change this later)
  3. Click "Start Recording"

Step 4: Add Steps

As you navigate your application:

  1. Click elements to highlight them as tour steps
  2. Add descriptions to explain what users should do
  3. Use hotspots to draw attention to important features
  4. Navigate between pages - TourKit will track your path

Step 5: Stop and Save

When you've captured all the steps you need:

  1. Click "Stop Recording" in the TourKit panel
  2. Review your tour in the preview
  3. Click "Save" to upload to your dashboard

Editing Your Tour

After saving, you can refine your tour in the dashboard:

Reorder Steps

Drag and drop steps to change their order.

Edit Descriptions

Click on any step to update the text, add images, or modify the highlight style.

Adjust Timing

Set how long each step should display in auto-play mode.

Add Effects

Choose from different tooltip styles, animations, and transitions.

Publishing

When your tour is ready:

  1. Click "Publish" to make it live
  2. Copy the embed code
  3. Add it to your website, help center, or landing page

Tips for Great Tours

  • Keep it focused: Each tour should cover one specific workflow
  • Be concise: Short, clear descriptions work best
  • Show, don't tell: Use highlights and hotspots to guide visually
  • Test thoroughly: Preview your tour before publishing
